Attendees heard from a multitude of speakers, including Attorney Lina Shayo, who illustrated the negative impact separation and detention have on families. Attorney Shayo is quoted as saying, “Detention should be the last option – Our goal should be to keep families together throughout the process, whether it is at the border or within NH.”
